NORTHEAST MAKES QUICK WORK OF NORTH PLATTE TRIANGULAR WITH TWO SWEEPS
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team hit the road Saturday for North Platte, Nebraska to compete in the North Platte Triangular against Otero College and North Platte Community College. The Hawks took both showdowns by final scores of 3-0 in each contest for their 13th and 14th sweeps of the year.

The Hawks took both showdowns by final scores of 3-0 in each contest for their 13th and 14th sweeps of the year.
Northeast (21-12, 5-2 ICCAC) held Otero to just five points in the first set of their matchup Saturday as the Hawks were able to set the tone for the afternoon early. Shaylyn Safranek (Merna, Neb.) was an assisting machine in the battle as she has been during much of the season as she tallied 37 assists against the Rattlers. The nightcap against North Platte had a similar feel as the Knights were only able to muster 11, 15 and 21 points in the three sets. Mya Hedstrom (O'Neill, Neb.) recorded 15 kills while Jayda Christensen (Norfolk, Neb.) added 10 of her own as Northeast will now shift their focus to two conference matchups this week.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on what clicked during both matches in North Platte:
"The girls came ready to play," Schultze said. "They did a nice job at mixing up our offense and just played a solid couple of matches."
Schultze on what she will remember about her sophomores ahead of Sophomore Night:
"The group of sophomores will be extremely missed," Schultze said. "They are honest, hard-working kids and have done a great job leading the team this year!"
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will return home and will take on Ellsworth Community College at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk as part of Sophomore Night.
