SENATOBIA, Miss. – The No. 6 Northeast women's soccer team completed their stretch of battling three nationally ranked teams in five days Monday as they took on No. 1 Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Mississippi. The Hawks fell in the ranked showdown by a final score of 4-0.
Northeast (1-2-1) controlled possession of the ball throughout most of the first 15 minutes of the contest but couldn't push a goal across in what was a rematch of a matchup from 2022 NJCAA Women's Soccer Championship in Tucson, Arizona. The Rangers found the back of the net twice in the first half and twice in the second half while shutting out the Hawks throughout the ballgame. Northeast will now return home before making a trek back on the road to Illinois for two matches this upcoming weekend.
HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Women's Soccer Coach Chad Miller on the three-game trip:
"I feel like we have a lot of things that we need to iron out," Miller said. "Playing teams like these gives you a good idea of what needs fixing and what needs work. We have plenty to do the next few days before we head out to play another top-five team. We have to find another level among us."
Miller on where he wants his team to be at before hitting the road again this week:
"The focus needs to be on us as a whole," Miller said. "I feel like we have the right people with the right skillset, but we have to be able to trust each other when we are out there. I don't think we are doing that right now. There are times I see great things, but we need to make it consistent, and I feel that starts with trust."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will return to the road and will face off with Parkland College at 4 p.m. Friday in Champaign, Illinois.
