The Hawks (6-1-1) spent time this week making sure their defense was where it needed to be, and the extra time spent was well worth it as they did not surrender a single goal. Taryn O'Brien (Lakewood, Colo.) continued her stellar season as her two goals in the contest gave her eight on the year.
STAT SHEET:

Assists: Kyler Bowman (Topeka, Kan.)
HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head women's soccer coach Chad Miller on his defense pitching a shutout:
"I was greatly impressed with them today," Miller said. "We've worked on it the last couple of days. For them to pick it up that quickly and watch some old film on their own to figure it out was awesome. They did it. It was great."
Miller on how the defense and the team as a whole can continue the result from today:
"I think that we just have to keep the energy and the momentum going," Miller said. "The energy that they brought today was incredible. You could just feel it. They were ready to play. They were ready to pressure. They weren't going to let anyone run them down. We just have to keep that going into next Wednesday because that will be a tough one too."
UP NEXT:
Northeast will stay home and play at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday as they take on Iowa Lakes Community College at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
