CHICAGO, Ill. – The No. 10 Northeast Community College women's soccer team started their three-game trip in Illinois Thursday with a bang as they downed No. 7 Waubonsee Community College by a final score of 7-0.
The Chiefs on paper were the toughest test that the Hawks had faced so far on the early season, but Kyler Bowman (Topeka, Kan.) continued her hot start to the season in the 10th-minute as her goal with an assist from Taryn O'Brien (Lakewood, Colo.) put the Hawks ahead early in the contest. Four other goals would pour in during the first half as O'Brien, Aidyn Woodall (Castle Rock, Colo.) twice and Carly Schaad (Columbus, Neb.) all got in on the goal-scoring fun.
The Hawks would add another before the game was over as Reygan Garcia (Fort Lupton, Colo.) would put the cherry on top of an impressive ranked victory.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head women's soccer coach Chad Miller on what he liked from his team against the No. 7 team in the nation:
"All lines played very well," Miller said. "I felt our midfield did a great job of finding space in the middle. Our forwards did good at framing the goal. Our defense did well at keeping everything in front of them."
Miller on how he wants his team to refocus after the big win:
"We have another tough match tomorrow against Morton," Miller said. "We have to enjoy the win but get our minds ready for tomorrow. One step at a time, one game at a time. This one is complete so it's time to turn our minds to the next one."
