Pedroza leads Hawks in win over Scott CC

The Hawks (13-5, 8-1 ICCAC) got off to a fast start in the first half, securing five goals to take a 5-0 advantage at halftime. Sara Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) scored the first goal for the Hawks, followed by two goals from Naomi and one each from Kyler Bowman (Topeka, Kan.) and Romeni Gurmendi (Boulder, Colo.), respectively.
Naomi found the back of the net to start the second half as Gurmendi later followed with her second goal of the game. Naomi quickly added her fourth goal of the game, while Erica Derby (Keenesburg, Colo.) chipped in one to cap the Hawks' scoring.
The Hawks outshot Scott, 43-3, while Carolin Stahlmann (Ahrensburg, Germany) had two saves.
"Our women played a great game today," head coach Chad Miller said. "Scott is well-coached and has really been competitive this season. It was really great to see us put some of the stuff we have been focusing on in practice, into the match."
The Hawks square off with North Iowa Area Community College at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Mason City, Iowa.
