Hawks control Raiders from start to finish
NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 10 Northeast Community College women’s soccer team grabbed its third win of the season, topping Central Community College, 7-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 10 Northeast Community College women's soccer team grabbed its third win of the season, topping Central Community College, 7-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
The Hawks (3-0) took a 3-0 lead into halftime and never looked back. Erica Derby (Keenesburg, Colo.) kick-started the scoring for Northeast, finding the back of the net early in the first half. Kyler Bowman (Topeka, Kan.) added a goal in the 18th-minute and Mackenzee Stokes (Ningi, Queensland) hit a wide-open shot near the net in the 35th-minute.
Bowman tallied her second goal of the night to open the second half, while Romeni Gurmendi (Boulder, Colo.) scored minute later. Mikayla Cemper (Tucson, Ariz.) put the Hawks up by six with a goal in the 75th-minute and Sara Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) scored the final goal in the 88th-minute.
The Hawks hit the road for the first time this season, battling Casper College at 3 p.m. Friday in Casper, Wyo. Northeast will face Laramie County Community College at 2 p.m. Saturday in Laramie, Wyo.
