Tayler Ohu gave the Hawks life, putting the first goal on the scoreboard for Northeast in the 22nd minute. However, it was a tale of two halves as Iowa Central would go onto seal the victory with two goals in the second half.
"I felt good at halftime about where we were at," head coach Chad Miller said. "The second half was not the same. Iowa Central came out with more intensity and we were very sloppy with the ball. We weren't trying to possess the ball or use patience. Iowa Central moved the ball well and we kept getting caught flat footed. Our defense did well kepping their stars from scoring, but we did not do a good job with our marks in set-piece situations."
Iowa Central outshot Northeast 12-10. Goalie Lizzy McCalla had three saves with six shots on goal.
The Hawks (6-6-1, 6-3 ICCAC) host Northeastern Junior College at 11 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Field in Norfolk.
