HAWKS GET BACK ON TRACK WITH STRONG DEFENSE IN VICTORY OVER TIGERS
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team made the trip to Marshalltown, Iowa Saturday for a duel with Marshalltown Community College. The Hawks took a commanding victory by a final score of 52-34 to get back to .500 in conference play.

Northeast (10-12, 7-7 ICCAC) entered the showdown having dropped their last two contests but were ready to go off the bus as the 34 points that the Tigers had in the contest were the fewest the Hawks have given up all year. Allison Richards (Pine Ridge, S.D.) did have another big afternoon on offense as she put in 23 points to ensure that Northeast began the final month of the regular season on the right track.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla's overall thoughts on the matchup with Marshalltown:
"We did a pretty good job on the defensive end today and we got off to a decent start to open the game," Svehla said. "Good to get a road win and we'll be back at home on Wednesday."

The Hawks will take on No. 19 Des Moines Area Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
