RICHARDS HAS 25 AS HAWKS ENTER WIN COLUMN FOR FIRST TIME THIS YEAR
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team returned home Tuesday night for a showdown with Midland University JV at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. The Hawks picked up a 59-51 triumph to grab their first win of the season.
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team returned home Tuesday night for a showdown with Midland University JV at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. The Hawks picked up a 59-51 triumph to grab their first victory of the season.
Northeast (1-3) had it all working during the matchup as they shot 47.3-percent from the field and 43.8-percent from beyond the three-point line. The Hawks grabbed 40 boards compared to just 27 from the Warriors and tallied 24 points in the paint. Northeast led wire-to-wire in the ballgame as Allison Richards (Pine Ridge, S.D.) and Stevi Fallis (Pine Ridge, S.D.) were both in double figures again as they have been in each of the last three Hawks matchups with 25 and 12 points, respectfully.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on what clicked tonight:
"We got off to a good start and that was important," Svehla said. "Leading 20-4 in the first quarter helped us get control of the game early."
Svehla on his message to his team to keep things going on Thursday:
"We need to play with more consistency and learn how to play 40 minutes moving forward, but it's great to get in the win column," Svehla said.

The Hawks will have a quick turnaround and will be back in action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against Morningside University JV at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
