NORTHEAST FACES TOUGH CHALLENGE SATURDAY IN KANSAS
CONCORDIA, Kan. – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team hit the road Saturday for the first time during the young season for a matchup with NJCAA DI Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas. The Hawks fell by a final score of 79-48 in the duel.
CONCORDIA, Kan. – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team hit the road Saturday for the first time during the young season for a matchup with NJCAA DI Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas. The Hawks fell by a final score of 79-48 in the duel.
Northeast (0-3) led 4-3 early but struggled to keep up with the T-Birds as the showdown went on. Stevi Fallis (Pine Ridge, S.D.) led the Hawks in scoring as she has in two of the three Northeast contests to this point of the year. Fallis tallied 12 points and four rebounds on the afternoon and was around the basketball much of the day. Eight different Hawks put in baskets during the battle as Merel Braakhuis (Manderveen, Netherlands) contributed seven Northeast points, her highest total so far this season. The Hawks will now return home with three games on the schedule this upcoming week.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla's takeaways from the ballgame Saturday:
"Cloud is a solid team, but we struggled to find any rhythm on offense and our defense was not there today," Svehla said. "We need to bring better energy when you play a team like Cloud. Hopefully we can get things going this coming week."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will head back home and begin a week of three games starting with a battle against Midland University JV at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
