BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team traveled to take on Des Moines Area Community College Wednesday night in Boone, Iowa. The Bears were victorious in the contest by a final score of 78-56.
The Hawks (12-9, 5-6 ICACC) fell behind 19-2 out of the gate and struggled to make up that margin the rest of the way. Northeast stayed even with the Bears after the initial scoring run DMACC had, but the start hindered the Hawks. Northeast shot 85.7-percent from the free-throw line compared to just the 66.7-percent mark from the Bears but struggled from the field as they shot 35.4-percent compared to the 58.5-percent from DMACC.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head women's basketball coach Matt Svehla on where the game was lost for Northeast:
"We got off to a poor start and really dug ourselves a hole," Svehla said. "Offensively, we did not have any flow and we shot poorly. Defensively, we just didn't guard very well. When you are not good on either end of the court it is tough to win. DMACC shot it pretty good, and they had better energy than us tonight."
UP NEXT:
Northeast will have a week off before hitting the court against Ellsworth Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
