FIRST HALF WOES TOO MUCH TO OVERCOME FOR NORTHEAST WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SATURDAY AT NIAAC
MASON CITY, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team hit the road for the first time in 2023 as they traveled to Mason City, Iowa Saturday to battle with North Iowa Area Community College. The Trojans got the better of the Hawks in the matchup by a final score of 84-55.
MASON CITY, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team hit the road for the first time in 2023 as they traveled to Mason City, Iowa Saturday to battle with North Iowa Area Community College. The Trojans got the better of the Hawks in the matchup by a final score of 84-55.
The Hawks (9-6, 3-3 ICCAC) were right there with NIAAC in the first quarter but struggled from the second quarter on. The Trojans held a massive advantage on the boards as they grabbed 54 boards to just 36 from Northeast.
Six games through the conference slate the Hawks now find themselves sitting fourth in the standings with two months to play.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head women's basketball coach Matt Svehla on what was missing tonight:
"We dug ourselves a hole in the first half and just couldn't get back in it," Svehla said. "NIACC played well and had their shots going in and we did not match their level of play today. We need to improve on both ends of the court."

The Hawks will be back at home at they will welcome Marshalltown Community College to town at 5:30 Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
