FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team came up short Wednesday night against Iowa Central Community College by a score of 68-45.
The Hawks (12-19, 9-12 ICCAC) ended the regular season last week with a 62-58 win over the Tritons, but during the quarterfinals of the Region XI Division II Women's Basketball Tournament the Tritons were able to pull off the victory. The Hawks jumped out to a quick 10-7 lead, but that was the largest advantage they were able to hold in the contest.
Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.) recorded a double-double in what ultimately was her final game donning a red Hawks uniform.
The season certainly didn't end as the Hawks would have liked, but this group of student-athletes will be remembered for the effort they put in every single time they hit the floor.
STAT SHEET
• Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.): 17 PTS, 12 REB
• Molly Davis (Yutan, Neb.): 8 PTS, 7 REB, 4 ST
• Marta Pons (Sevilla, Spain): 7 PTS
