NORTHEAST WOMEN WIN BIG MATCHUP AT HOME AGAINST SOUTHWESTERN
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team was able to come out on top by a score of, 57-50 during what was an extremely competitive matchup against Southwestern Community College Monday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team was able to come out on top by a score of, 57-50 during what was an extremely competitive matchup against Southwestern Community College Monday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
The Hawks (11-18, 8-11 ICCAC) finished the first quarter in an 11-11 tie with the Spartans in the ICCAC battle and took a slim 24-23 margin into the halftime break. The Hawks were able to increase their advantage to three by the end of the third quarter, but two minutes into the final quarter the Spartans jumped ahead on the scoreboard by three.
Autumn Dickmander (Brule, Neb.) made a layup with 3:10 remaining in the game to give the Hawks a 49-47 lead, and the Hawks would hold that lead until the final whistle.
Lorna Maxon (Laurel, Neb.) was active everywhere against the Spartans, recording a double-double. As a team the Hawks outrebounded the Spartans by five, 46-41, which may very well have been the difference in the otherwise even contest.

The Hawks will be back at home for the regular-season finale against Iowa Central Community College. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
