Hassett lifts Hawks past Marshalltown on Saturday
NORFOLK, Neb. – Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.) guided the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team to its first win of 2022 on Saturday, defeating Marshalltown Community College, 93-56 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

The Hawks (5-9, 2-2 ICCAC) jumped out to a quick 24-11 lead after the first quarter and put the pressure on the Tigers for much of the first half. The Hawks' defense held Marshalltown to under 18 points in the final two quarters, while holding the Tigers to 32 percent shooting from the field and forcing 21 turnovers.
The Hawks shot a blistering 43 percent from the field, 53 percent from beyond the arc and 88 percent from the free-throw line. Hassett led the Hawks with 30 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field and five rebounds. Autumn Dickmander (Brule, Neb.) added 16 points, five boards and four assists. Destiny Epps (Philadelphia, Penn.) chipped in 15 points, while Molly Davis (Yutan, Neb.) had a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
The Hawks hit the road for the first time in the new year to face Iowa Central Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
