Hawks cruise past Midland JV on Friday night
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team ran away from Midland University JV in the fourth quarter to grab an 83-65 victory on Friday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

The Hawks (3-4) took a 44-41 lead at halftime and never looked back after outscoring the Warriors 39-24 in the second half. The Warriors didn't go down without a fight after taking a small lead in the third quarter. But, it was the Hawks that shot 50 percent in the third quarter and 53 percent in the fourth quarter to hold off the Warriors.
Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.) led the Hawks with 21 points and six rebounds. Alexis Bliven (Holdrege, Neb.) added 17 points, seven steals, six assists and five boards. Autumn Dickmander (Brule, Neb.) and Molly Davis (Yutan, Neb.) each added 16 points in the win.
The Hawks shot 49 percent from the field and 75 percent from the charity stripe.
The Hawks host Southeast Community College at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Norfolk.
