NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team outscored Concordia University JV by five points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs topped the Hawks, 75-65 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
Down by 10 points at halftime, the Hawks (2-4) couldn't hold off the Bulldogs as they built a 20-point lead for much of the second half. The Hawks narrowed the lead to 10 points with 5:43 to play in the game when Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.) nailed a 3-pointer. Missed opportunities and timely shooting down the stretch proved to be the difference, keeping the Hawks searching for answers.
Hassett tallied a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Marta Pons (Sevilla, Spain) added 16 points, while Destiny Epps (Philadelphia, Penn.) had 10 points.
The Hawks welcome Midland University JV at 5 p.m. Friday in Norfolk.
