Hawks come up short at home against Central CC
NORFOLK, Neb. – Missed opportunities in the second half proved costly for the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team on Tuesday. Despite taking a fourth-quarter lead, the Hawks (1-2) fell to Central Community College, 67-62 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

Molly Davis (Yutan, Neb.) and Autumn Dickmander (Brule, Neb.) hit back-to-back layups that gave the Hawks a slight lead early in the fourth quarter. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter, until Alexis Bliven (Holdrege, Neb.) sank a 3-pointer that cut the Raider lead to two points. With a minute to play, the Raiders hit 3-of-4 free throws that put the game out of reach for the Hawks.
The Hawks trailed by four points at halftime, but managed to outscore the Raiders, 15-14 in the third quarter after shooting 58 percent. But, it ultimately wasn't enough as the Raiders had the final say down the stretch.
Bliven led the Hawks with 17 points. Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.) had 15 points and nine boards, while Dickmander added 10 points, four boards and three assists.
The Hawks host Mount Marty University JV tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Norfolk.
