Hassett helps Hawks past Bears
NORFOLK, Neb. – Sophomore Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.) tallied a season-high 28 points on Wednesday as the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team cruised over NJCAA DII No. 12 Des Moines Area Community College, 75-54 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

The Hawks (12-7, 11-7 ICCAC) held the Bears to less than nine points in both the first and second quarter to take a 29-18 lead at halftime. Northeast held DMACC to a dismal 31 percent shooting from the field and only 29 percent from beyond the arc. In the third quarter alone, the Hawks shot 78 percent from the field, while shooting 49 percent in the game.
Four Hawks scored double-digits led by Hassett. Patricija Peric (Zagreb, Croatia) recorded 14 points and six assists. Breanna Stouffer (David City, Neb.) had 11 points and nine rebounds, while Taylor Peter (Chambers, Neb.) had a double-double with 11 boards and 10 points.
The Hawks hit the road to face Marshalltown Community College in an ICCAC battle at 1 p.m. Saturday in Marshalltown, Iowa.
