Hawks fall short despite fourth-quarter comeback
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team tallied 23 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as Iowa Central Community College came away with the victory by the final of 53-50 on Wednesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

The Tritons held the Hawks (10-7, 9-7 ICCAC) to 20 points in the first half and only seven points in the third quarter. The Hawks managed to make a late push in the final quarter, but Iowa Central held strong in the final minutes.
Ashley Hassett (Hershey, Neb.) gave the Hawks some momentum after hitting a 3-pointer to open the fourth quarter. A minute later, Taylor Peter (Chambers, Neb.) sank a layup to pull the Hawks within seven points. With 2:04 to play, Hassett hit another 3-pointer and Peter hit one of her own to tie the game at 50. The Tritons ultimately prevailed after hitting crucial free throws with only seconds remaining.
Hassett had one of her best nights in a Hawks uniform, recording a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Peter added 10 points and four boards.
The Hawks hit the road for an ICCAC battle with North Iowa Area Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mason City, Iowa.
