SEITZ, MONROE AND SIRDOREUS ALL HOMER FOR HAWKS WEDNESDAY AT HOME
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team hosted Iowa Lakes Community College at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk Wednesday for a doubleheader. The Hawks fell by final scores of 5-3 and 7-6 in both contests.
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team hosted Iowa Lakes Community College at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk Wednesday for a doubleheader. The Hawks fell by final scores of 5-3 and 7-6 in both contests.
Northeast (15-22, 3-9 ICCAC) was led by leadoff hitter Kaia Kollmar (Norfolk, Neb.) in Game 1 as the sophomore had three of the Hawks' nine hits. Lauren Marker (Kearney, Neb.) and Delaney Kruse (Wayne, Neb.) both drove in a run while Rachel Hobbs (Hoskin, Neb.) allowed just three earned runs in the circle, but it wasn't enough to top the Lakers.
Game 2 saw Amy Lauby (Fairmont, Neb.) score off an error from Iowa Lakes in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Northeast ahead 6-5, but the Lakers went on to score two runs of their own in the top of the seventh inning to take the victory. Emilee Sirdoreus (Laramie, Wyo.), Karlee Seitz (Central City, Neb.) and Malika Monroe (Valentine, Neb.) all homered in the showdown as the Hawks will now turn the page to four games on the road this weekend.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the day from her team:
"For the most part, we competed really well," Sharpe said. "I think our defense was solid. We made the plays that we needed to. Our hitting and energy were mostly what the difference was."
Sharpe on what she wants to see from her group as the midpoint of conference play nears:
"Them finding the love for the game," Sharpe said. "The season is a grind and it's not easy for anyone. You are going to struggle more if you don't have love for the game."

The Hawks will hit the road and will battle No. 17 Iowa Central Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
