Hawks fall to No. 5 DMACC on Wednesday
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team was unable to knock off nationally-ranked Des Moines Area Community College on Wednesday at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team was unable to knock off nationally-ranked Des Moines Area Community College on Wednesday at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.
The Hawks (10-46, 4-40 ICCAC) fell in Game 1, 15-0 and 11-2 in the finale.
The Hawks received two hits in the first game. Chantel Julian (Roseville, Calif.) and Alyssa Turner (Columbus, Neb.) each had a hit, including a double from Turner. Kierra Stewart (Dodge, Neb.) was tagged with the loss after tossing four innings.
Northeast crossed the plate twice in Game 2 in the bottom of the third inning, but it ultimately wasn't enough. Brianna Aguilera (Pierce, Neb.) had a home run which drove in both Hawks' runs. Taylor Nicolay (Nebraska City, Neb.) also had a hit. Greta Lindberg (Tekamah, Neb.) was the losing pitcher, throwing six innings, allowing five earned runs off six hits.
The Hawks take on Iowa Lakes Community College in the Region XI Tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday in Boone, Iowa.
