Hawks drop two games to Iowa Western
NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Northeast Community College softball team came within two runs in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Iowa Western Community College and one run in Game 2, falling 2-0 and 8-7 on Wednesday at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Northeast Community College softball team came within two runs in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Iowa Western Community College and one run in Game 2, falling 2-0 and 8-7 on Wednesday at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.
The Hawks (7-13, 1-7 ICCAC) couldn't find any offensive firepower in the first game against a potent Reivers pitching staff.
Maia Johnson (Louisville, Neb.) went 2-for-3. Greta Lindberg (Tekamah, Neb.) took the loss, tossing six innings, allowing two earned runs off five hits. She walked five batters and struck out three.
The Hawks struck first in the nightcap, tallying three runs in the top of the first inning. The Reivers quickly added three runs midway through the seven-inning contest. Northeast added a run in the sixth and three more in the top of the seventh, but Iowa Western prevailed after scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Chantel Julian (Roseville, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run, a double and an RBI. Jade Koch (Norfolk, Neb.) also added a double and an RBI. Lindberg was tagged with the loss, throwing one and one-thirds innings. She allowed two earned runs off four hits, while walking a batter.
The Hawks host Southwestern Community College in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday in Norfolk.
