Hawks unable to fend off Iowa Central

NORFOLK, Neb. – A powerful lineup from start to finish was too much for the Northeast Community College softball team to handle on Friday.
Iowa Central Community College dismantled the Hawks 14-0 and 19-3 in ICCAC action at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.
Northeast (2-34, 0-16 ICCAC) mustered two hits the first game, one from Rosario Garcia (Northglenn, Colo.) and the other from Reagan Reicks (Dunlap, Iowa).
Madison McKewon (Springfield, Neb.) was tagged with loss, tossing two innings, allowing four earned runs off seven hits.
Northeast got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first and added a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings of the final game of the doubleheader, but the potent offense of Iowa Central exploded for nine runs in the top of the second.
Maggie Berryman (Norfolk, Neb.) had a home run, while Garcia added a double.
Lindsey Anderson (Dunlap, Iowa) took the loss, throwing two innings, giving up eight earned runs off nine hits.
The Hawks welcome North Iowa Area Community College at 10 a.m. and Noon tomorrow in Norfolk.
