CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Northeast Community College men's soccer student-athletes Edouard Nys (Dottignies, Belgium), Lewis Rourke (Nottingham, England) and Ludovico Vicini (Modena, Italy) were named 2024 NJCAA DII Men's Soccer First Team All-American, it was announced by the NJCAA Tuesday.
Edouard Nys dominated the entire nation during his sophomore season as he led the country in goals, assists and points. Nys scored 31 goals, tallied 27 assists and recorded 89 points to finish his career with the Hawks as a two-time First Team All-American. Nys was also named Tournament MVP of the 2024 NJCAA DII Men's Soccer Championship in Huntsville, Alabama and earned the title of Region 11 Player of the Year, a recognition that he secured during both of his years at Northeast. Nys has signed to continue his career and education at the University of Illinois Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, a NCAA DI institution that competes in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Lewis Rourke was named Third Team All-American in 2023 and improved on that mark to find himself on the first team in 2024. Rourke was a force on offense for the Hawks as his 78 shots were the fourth-most in the nation and his 18 goals gave him 40 for his career at Northeast. The sophomore placed on the All-Tournament Team during both the Region 11 Tournament and the NJCAA DII Men's Soccer Championship. Rourke has signed to continue his career and education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, a NCAA DI institution that competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
Ludovico Vicini (Modena, Italy) took the country by storm during his freshman campaign as he finished the season tied for second in the nation in assists with 19, a feat rare for someone who plays left back. Vicini helped the Hawks secure one of their most important victories of the season as his goal in the final minute against No. 15 Pearl River Community College on the road was a win that Northeast looked back on as a turning point to their season.
Nys, Rourke and Vicini were all named First Team All-Region by the ICCAC and were instrumental parts of the team that brought the Hawks their first-ever NJCAA national title in school history when they defeated No. 2 Neosho County Community College by a final score of 2-1 on November 23.
