LIVONIA, Mich. – The No. 7 Northeast Community College men's soccer team traveled to Livonia, Michigan for a contest with No. 17 Schoolcraft College Thursday. A fury of second-half goals put the Hawks on top by a final score of 5-2 to begin the season on the right track in stellar fashion.
Northeast (1-0) fell behind 1-0 early before Jeevan Purewal (Wolverhampton, England) picked right back up where he left off after his First Team All-American campaign in 2022 with a goal to even the showdown at 1-1. Freshman Ben Schoenherr (Norfolk, Neb.) buried his first career collegiate goal later in the half to put the Hawks on top at intermission.
The Ocelots again tied up the ballgame with an early second-half goal, but that would be the last of their scoring on the day. Edouard Nys (Dottignies, Belgium), Sergio Aspas (Valencia, Spain) and Jordy Enamorado (Lexington, Neb.) all put balls in the back of the net late as Northeast cruised to victory.
