WATERLOO, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's soccer team had a tough time slowing down Hawkeye Community College on Wednesday, falling in the Region XI semifinals by the final of 4-0 in Waterloo, Iowa.
The Hawks (7-15, 5-5 ICCAC) tried to get past the Hawkeye defenders, but to no avail after being outshot, 29-6 and trailing 2-0 at halftime. Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) had 16 saves in the match.
"I felt we were capable of making this a good game, but we didn't seem to show up ready," head coach Chad Miller said. "Hawkeye was fired up and ready to go and were not at their level today. This group of guys have accomplished the most wins and first playoff wins of the program. There will only be better things to come for this program."
