MASON CITY, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's soccer team came up short on Wednesday, falling to North Iowa Area Community College, 2-1 on Wednesday in Mason City, Iowa.
The Hawks (6-14, 5-5 ICCAC) recorded a goal in the 34th-minute by Slayde Stokes (Ningi, Queensland) to tie the game at 1-1 before halftime. The Northeast offense went silent the rest of the match as the Trojans were able to find the back of the net in the second half.
"Another slow start for us," head coach Chad Miller said. "NIACC was fired up and ready to play, but it took a goal from them to get us going. We have struggled with that as of late. We created some good opportunities, but the luck wasn't on our side again. It has been tough finding the back of the net."
Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) tallied 10 saves in the loss.
The Hawks await the seeding of the Region XI Tournament that is slated to begin on Sunday.
