NORFOLK, Neb. – With two minutes remaining in regulation and the game tied 1-1, the Northeast Community College men's soccer team (6-13, 5-4 ICCAC) fell to Scott Community College, 2-1 off a last-minute penalty kick on Saturday a Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
"This is a hard loss," head coach Chad Miller said "Scott really came to play today and gave it everything they had. We had plenty of opportunities, but it took Scott to get on the board first to get us more focused. I felt good about our second half, we were playing more of our game. I felt it was only a matter of time before we could break through for a second goal. Unfortunately, it didn't happen, but we have to forget and prepare for Tuesday."
Both teams had a tough time scoring the first half, but it was Scott that found the back of the net first. Mateo Gomez-Keep (Cali, Colombia) later scored the Hawks' first goal. The Hawks outshot Scott, 24-5.
The Hawks hit the road to face North Iowa Area Community College at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Mason City, Iowa.
