WATERLOO, Iowa – Tied at halftime, the Northeast Community College men's soccer team couldn't overcome Hawkeye Community College in an ICCAC match on Wednesday, falling 3-1 in Waterloo, Iowa.
Paul Einero (Cape Town, South Africa) found the back of the net for the Hawks (2-12, 1-3 ICCAC) in the 26th-minute, but the Hawks' offense would run dry the rest of the way as they allowed 16 shots on goal.
"We played a lot of defense, but our defense played very well," head coach Chad Miller said. "We gave up shots, but we did a much better job of keeping them in front of us and not letting them behind us. We did some good things and created some chances. Our nemesis all season has been finishing on our opportunities."
Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) had 13 saves in the loss.
The Hawks welcome North Iowa Area Community College at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
