WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – Down by just a goal at halftime, the Northeast Community College men's soccer team couldn't muster any offensive production on Sunday, falling to No. 9 Southeastern Community College, 5-1 in West Burlington, Iowa.
Slayde Stokes (Ningi, Queensland) found the back of the net in the ninth-minute for the Hawks (2-11, 1-2 ICCAC), but the scoring would go cold the rest of the match.
Southeastern outshot the Hawks, 19-8. Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) tallied four saves.
"Our first half was probably the best we have played all season," head coach Chad Miller said. "We were creating opportunities up top and our defense was doing a great job at keeping the ball in front of them. In the second half, it looked like were wore down a bit and lost our shape in the middle. We were giving up too much time and space on the ball."
The Hawks battle Hawkeye Community College at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Waterloo, Iowa.
