NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's soccer team had a tough time catching up with Iowa Central Community College on Tuesday.
Despite trailing by a goal at halftime, the Tritons scored two goals in the final 45 minutes to down the Hawks (1-7) 5-2 at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
Paul Einero (Cape Town, South Africa) tallied a goal in the 40th-minute, while Axcele Biteghe (Libreville, Gabon) found the back of the net in the 44th-minute to put the Hawks within a goal.
"We are making silly mistakes that come back and get us," head coach Chad Miller said. "A good number of goals we give up are direct results of our own mistakes. We need to clean a lot up before we get to conference play."
Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) had 11 saves in the net for the Hawks.
The Hawks square off with Indian Hills Community College at 7 p.m. Sunday in Ottumwa, Iowa.
