MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa -- The Northeast Community College men's soccer team couldn't withstand the offensive attack by Marshalltown Community College, falling 8-0 on Saturday in Marshalltown, Iowa.
From start to finish, the Tigers took control of the game as they led 3-0 at halftime. The Hawks (1-6) couldn't seem to find an answer as they were outshot, 29-5.
"We seemed very unmotivated today, and you could see it from the warmups to the field," head coach Chad Miller said. "You can't play a team as good as Marshalltown and not be motivated to play. Marshalltown is a very strong team, and they took charge right away. We found it very hard to get any kind of play built up to go forward. We are really struggling with finding consistency in our play."
Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) had eight saves in the loss.
The Hawks look to get back in the win column when they host Iowa Central Community College at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
