Hawks come up big in overtime win on the road
MASON CITY, Iowa – Conner Bickford (Arvada, Colo.) scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from Hugo Santos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in overtime to give the Northeast Community College men’s soccer team (3-4, 3-4 ICCAC) a 2-1 victory over North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday in Mason City, Iowa.

MASON CITY, Iowa – Conner Bickford (Arvada, Colo.) scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from Hugo Santos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in overtime to give the Northeast Community College men's soccer team (3-4, 3-4 ICCAC) a 2-1 victory over North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday in Mason City, Iowa.
With the score knotted at 0-0 at halftime, the Trojans were first on the scoreboard, but not for long as Breno Neves (Brasilia, Brazil) tied the game at 1-1 in the 81st-minute that set up the winning goal for Bickford in the 93rd-minute. Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) tallied four saves in the net.
"This was a big win for the men's soccer team." head coach Chad Miller said. "NIACC scored first in the 79th-minute, but our guys came back to even it up in the 81st-minute. It went to overtime and we were able to get the golden goal three minutes into the first overtime."
The Hawks battle Southeastern Community College at 12 p.m. tomorrow in West Burlington, Iowa.
