BETTENDORF, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's soccer team got right to work on Saturday, defeating Scott Community College 4-0 in Bettendorf, Iowa.
McKenna Bailiff (Ashland, Neb.) put the Hawks (2-2-1, 2-2-1 ICCAC) on the scoreboard in the 22th-minute off an assist from Sara Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) Naomi Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) found the back of the net, thanks to a penalty kick in the 38th-minute as the Hawks took a 2-0 lead at intermission. Madi Foutz (Brighton, Colo.) tallied the third goal for the Hawks in the 62nd-minute and Jonatha Tighe (Broomfield, Colo.) hit the final goal in the 69th-minute off an assist from Pedroza.
"The beginning was a little rough with Scott getting some early chances," Miller said. "Then we were able to get some chances that we were just missing. Once we settled in we were able to control a little better. The second half was much more organized and we felt much better in our attack. Going 2-0-1 on the week is pretty good, against good competition. We are going to need to heal up quickly, because we have another three games waiting for us."
The Hawks host Dakota County Technical College for a 2:30 p.m. match on Monday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
