MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – It wasn't quite what the Northeast Community College men's soccer team had planned on Saturday, falling to (RV) Marshalltown Community College, 6-0 in an ICCAC match in Marshalltown, Iowa.
It was a tough go from the start for the Hawks (2-9-1) after heading into halftime down by three goals. Northeast was unable to put any pressure on the Tigers goal after being out shot, 9-0.
"In a season like the men are having, you have to look for the positives in each match," head coach Chad Miller said. "A positive here is that we kept it closer than some previous matches; and we gave up 19 corner kicks, but only allowed one goal off a corner. We didn't record a single stat offensively, but Marshalltown is very tough. They are a well-coached squad that does well taking away the passing lanes."
Ivan Castillo-Garcia (Broomfield, Colo.) had three saves in the net for the Hawks.
The Hawks battle Iowa Central Community College in an ICCAC match at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Veteran's Memorial Field in Norfolk.
