Northeast men’s golf claims first place at Nebraska Intercollegiate

The Hawks captured the team title after a playoff with Midland University. The two teams went into a playoff after both had a team total score of a three-over par 579 in the two-day event. The Hawks played the first playoff hole on No. 13 in one-under, while the Warriors were one-over.
Sophomore Ty Heimes (Battle Creek, Neb.) led the Hawks after tying for fifth place. Freshmen Rockney Peck (Wisner, Neb.) and Kody Sander (Lincoln, Neb.) each tied for eighth place. Sander recorded the second-lowest round on Saturday with a four-under par 68. Kellen Rossman (Norfolk, Neb.) finished in a tie for 20th-place, while Jordan Hart (Omaha, Neb.) tied for 23rd-place.
"I was extremely proud of how the team performed under pressure at the Intercollegiate," head coach Wes Bernt said. "It was a complete team effort as Ty, Kody and Rockney all played excellent, finishing inside the top-10. Everyone put a lot of time and effort into the preparation for the tournament, leading to our first Nebraska Intercollegiate win in program history."
According to online records and statistical information, the team score of 581 was the lowest 36-hole score since the men's golf program was reinstated at Northeast.
The Hawks conclude the fall portion of its season with four first-place finishes and will look to keep the momentum heading into the spring of 2022.
