Northeast (6-15, 3-11 ICCAC) came into the showdown with the Lakers riding a three-game winning streak and kept the good vibes rolling as sophomore Vincent Garrett took over the contest early and often. Garrett's 38 points were the most in his illustrious career with the Hawks and he added eight rebounds in the matchup for good measure. The victory marks the third-straight triumph for Northeast as they are hoping to stay hot at the right time with the regular season nearing competition.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Clark on the dominant performance from Vincent Garrett and the huge victory over a ranked squad:
"Tonight was a team effort, but we all jumped on Vince's back as he had a huge night," Clark said. "He and I talked about going out and taking over games early and getting going from the tip. Tonight, he got to his spots and the game was slow for him. This team is such a pleasure to coach, and I love each of them, not for what they do, but for who they are."
Clark on welcoming No. 3 Kirkwood to Norfolk on Saturday:
"Saturday is another ranked opponent and one that is very similar to tonight's opponent with even better shooters," Clark said. "We will need to play our brand of defensive ball and control our assignments. The offense takes care of itself, if we can get stops. The season's not over yet. We're playing for something bigger and when we get in the tournament, we're going to be a tough team to face."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will take on No. 3 Kirkwood Community College at 3:30 p.m. at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
