NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball team squared off with Np. 12 Iowa Lakes Community College Wednesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. The Lakers took the conference victory by a final score of 83-74 in overtime.

The Hawks (12-15, 3-11 ICCAC) gave the nationally-ranked Iowa Lakes team all they could handle as Northeast jumped out to an early 14-3 lead. The two teams were knotted on the scoreboard at half and that close score remained throughout the second half. The Hawks had two solid looks at a game-winning shot to end regulation, but they didn't fall. The Hawks competed in their first overtime game this season and the Lakers sealed the deal in the extra frame.

"We shot it better tonight," Anderson said. "I thought our defense was really good. We took a nationally-ranked team to overtime. I really liked how hard we played."

The Hawks will load up and head to Southeastern Community College for a battle at 3:00m p.m. Saturday in Burlington, Iowa.
