MASON CITY, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team saw their season come to an end Friday night against Iowa Central Community College in Mason City, Iowa by a final score of 70-53 in a game that was closer than the final score showed.
The Hawks (5-23, 1-16 ICCAC) squared off with the Tritons for the second time in three nights, but this time the two clashed during the ICCAC Region XI Division II Men's Basketball Tournament play-in game. The Hawks fell behind early but were able to capitalize on multiple scoring runs to keep the contest within reach.
At halftime the Hawks trailed 32-24, but a quick rally out of the locker room evened the score at 38-38. With 7:30 remaining in the second half the Hawks were behind by just 52-48, but hot shooting from the Tritons was enough to propel them to the next round of the tournament.
Collin Storr (Nassau, Bahamas) finished his first season in a Hawks uniform with an exclamation point as he tallied a double-double.
