Hawks fall to Central at home on Friday night

Despite, shooting 61 percent from the field in the second half, the Hawks (0-2) held the Raiders in check until the 16:18 mark. Central began to build a furious lead and didn't allow a bucket for nearly four minutes. Jaden Strachan (Nassau, Bahamas) gave the Hawks a spark with 10 minutes left to play after hitting a 3-pointer to pull within nine points. However, the Raiders went on to score 34 more points in the final eight minutes to keep the Hawks from mounting any comeback.
Jared Lopez (Lincoln, Neb.) tallied 22 points and six rebounds. Evan Decker (Omaha, Neb.) had 12 points and five boards, while Strachan added 11 points and eight rebounds. The Hawks shot 42 percent, while the Raiders shot 46 percent from the field.
The Hawks host Mount Marty University JV at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Norfolk.
