Iowa Lakes downs Northeast men in Hawks Classic

It was all Iowa Lakes in the first half, shooting a blistering 49 percent from the field, while holding the Hawks to just 39 points.
The Hawks (1-2) were able to pull within three points in the second half at the 7:46-minute mark after Emmette Page (Crystal, Minn.) hit a deep 3-pointer. Both teams traded baskets down the stretch, but it was Deon'ta Tinker (Nassau, Bahamas) the hit the old-fashion three-point play to pull the Hawks within a point with 2:15 to play.
With time running out, the Hawks were forced to foul the Lakers and they ultimately hit four-straight free-throws on different occasions to keep Northeast at bay.
Page led the Hawks with 24 points, five rebounds and five assists. Tinker added 14 points, while Daniel Akuei (Melbourne, Austalia) and Asher Scavella (Nassau, Bahamas) had 13 points each.
The Hawks battle Iowa Central Community College at 6 p.m. tomorrow in Norfolk.
