Landon Briscoe enters his seventh year with the Northeast Community College baseball team as the catching coach. Coach Briscoe also helps with recruiting and practice planning.
Briscoe has played a prominent role in the development of the Northeast catchers, including Sam Manwarren who was named an NJCAA DII Baseball ADCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner in 2021. Manwarren was named Honorable Mention All-Region in 2022 and committed to continue his career at Charleston Southern University.
In 2024 under the direction of Briscoe, Oliver Ward was named First Team All-Region, Brice Wallar and Cade Grevengoed were named Second Team All-Region and Nick Vilims, Nick Miszuk and Kale Jensen were named Honorable Mention All-Region. There were 13 different student-athletes who signed to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions.
Briscoe coached shortstop Zane Zielinski, who became the first Northeast baseball player to ever be selected in the MLB Draft as he was taken in the ninth round of the 2024 draft with pick 268 by the San Francisco Giants on July 15, 2024.
In 2023, Northeast tied their program record for wins in a season with 39. Clay Beaumont and Gage Ingram were named First Team All-Region, Harrison Taubert and Kaden Young were named Second Team All-Region and Cade Grevengoed, Derek Woolwine and Taylor Gill were named Honorable Mention All-Region. The Hawks won two games at the Region 11 Tournament and 10 different players sign to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions. There were also two no-hitters thrown in 2023 under the direction of Briscoe.
The 2022 team featured three different catchers who had time behind the plate and with the help of Briscoe the team set a school record for wins with 39.
In his first year with Northeast, Coach Briscoe was a pivotal piece in the Hawks' historic run to the NJCAA DII Baseball National Tournament in Enid, Okla. He oversaw the catchers and helped Bryce Walker earn All-Tournament Team at the NJCAA DII World Series. Walker went on to sign with NCAA DI Northern Illinois University. He was also responsible for recruiting efforts and game management duties.
Briscoe brings a wide range of experience from the college ranks, previously serving as an assistant coach for the Badlands Big Sticks, a summer collegiate baseball team in Dickinson, N.D. Briscoe was also the catching and hitting coach at his alma mater, Dickinson State University for three years. As a player at DSU, Briscoe hit .337 his senior season. Throughout college, he played four years of summer ball, first with the Yorkton Cardinals of the Western Canadian Baseball League and with the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets. Prior to DSU, Briscoe played two years at Cloud County Community College, an NJCAA DI junior college in Concordia, Kan.
Briscoe is a 2017 graduate of Dickinson State University with a degree in university studies. He is married to Kyla and they reside in Norfolk.
