BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team traveled Wednesday to Boone, Iowa for a doubleheader to complete their season series with Des Moines Community College. The Hawks took the first matchup of the day by a final score of 10-4 before falling 14-11 in Game 2.

BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team traveled Wednesday to Boone, Iowa for a doubleheader to complete their season series with Des Moines Community College. The Hawks took the first matchup of the day by a final score of 10-4 before falling 14-11 in Game 2.
Northeast (18-15, 4-6 ICCAC) put up four of their 10 runs in Game 1 in the first inning to get the day started strong. Brady Fitzpatrick (Bellevue, Neb.), Edgar Hernandez (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) and Giuseppe Salvatore (Johnstown, Colo.) all blasted homers in the contest while Carter Noakes (Dannebrog, Neb.) recorded three hits from the top of the Hawks lineup.
The run support was there for Northeast again in Game 2 as 11 runs and blasts from Jack Borgmann (Norfolk, Neb.) and Hernandez for the second time during the afternoon kept the Hawks right with the Bears. Salvatore twice, Fitzpatrick, Borgmann and Hayden Parrish (Omaha, Neb.) all doubled in the showdown as the Hawks will now move on to series with Ellsworth Community College this weekend that will be crucial for playoff positioning.
