PITCHING CLINCHES SERIES SWEEP OF TIGERS FOR HAWKS
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team wrapped up their three-game series with Marshalltown Community College Saturday in Marshalltown, Iowa. The Hawks swept both showdowns by final scores of 7-5 and 5-3.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team wrapped up their three-game series with Marshalltown Community College Saturday in Marshalltown, Iowa. The Hawks swept both showdowns by final scores of 7-5 and 5-3.
Northeast (24-14, 11-4 ICCAC) and the Tigers took nine innings to finish the contest originally scheduled for seven frames in Game 1 through windy conditions. Aidan Brainard (Littleton, Colo.) tossed five innings in his start and did not allow an earned run. Carter Noakes (Dannebrog, Neb.) launched a homer, recorded a double and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth inning when he drew a walk to score Jack Borgmann (Norfolk, Neb.).
Borgmann hit a home run in the fifth inning of Game 2 and the pitching for the Hawks was solid again to secure a Northeast sweep of Marshalltown. Braden Cork (Omaha, Neb.) came out of the bullpen and locked the matchup down as he pitched 2.1 innings and did not allow a single hit. The victory marked the sixth time that the Hawks have won a series this season.

Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on the day in Marshalltown and a big week ahead:
"Any time you can win on the road it's big!" Clapp said. "The conditions were not ideal for either team. We did not look good at times, but we found a way! We need to get back at it Monday and get right for the week."

The Hawks will take on No. 5 Iowa Central Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk.
