NEWCOMERS SHINE AS NORTHEAST SPILTS SATURDAY IN OKLAHOMA
ENID, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team was back in Enid, Oklahoma Saturday to wrap up their series with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. The Hawks fell in the first contest by a final score of 12-10 in eight innings before picking up their first victory of the year in the second matchup of the doubleheader by a final score of 14-5.

ENID, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team was back in Enid, Oklahoma Saturday to wrap up their series with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. The Hawks fell in the first contest by a final score of 12-10 in eight innings before picking up their first victory of the year in the second matchup of the doubleheader by a final score of 14-5.
Northeast (1-3) took an early lead in Game 1 as Trenton Barry (Wahoo, Neb.) blasted a home run during the first at bat of the day. The freshman finished the first showdown just a single shy of a cycle as he homered twice, tripled and doubled in the ballgame. The Hawks took a 9-4 lead into the seventh inning before the Jets rallied to force extra innings. Nixon Snyder (Omaha, Neb.) gave Northeast a brief lead in the eighth inning before NOC-Enid walked the Hawks off in the bottom half of the frame.
The ending of the first game of the doubleheader didn't linger long for Northeast as the Hawks jumped out to an early 8-0 lead after just the first inning. Oliver Ward (Mill Creek, Wash.) was strong on the mound during his start as he recorded six strikeouts and allowed zero earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. Aidan Brainard (Littleton, Colo.) finished the deal for Northeast as he went the remaining 3.1 innings and allowed just one hit to secure the split of the day.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on bouncing back in a big way after a harsh ending to Game 1:
"The first game was really tough and frustrating," Clapp said. "I told the guys how proud of them I was to come out in the second game and get right back after it."
Clapp on how he wants to spend the next week before heading to Kansas:
"We just need to keep working and keep getting better day by day," Clapp said. "I like this group and we will be ok!"

The Hawks will have a week off before heading to Neosho County Community College for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday in Chanute, Kansas.
