NO. 9 HAWKS OUT-DUEL ELLSWORTH IN TWO HIGHLY COMPETITIVE CONTESTS
NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 9 Northeast Community College baseball team battled it out with ICCAC opponent Ellsworth Community College in two games Tuesday that came down to the wire. The Hawks were ultimately able to come through in both games, winning Game 1 by a final score of 8-7 and Game 2 by a score of 8-6.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 9 Northeast Community College baseball team battled it out with ICCAC opponent Ellsworth Community College in two games Tuesday that came down to the wire. The Hawks were ultimately able to come through in both games, winning Game 1 by a final score of 8-7 and Game 2 by a score of 8-6.
Game 1 saw the Panthers jump on top of the Hawks (25-3, 5-1 ICCAC) and scoring three runs in the second inning, but the Hawks would rally back with five more of their own in the third. Zane Zielinski (Chicago, Ill.) was a big hero for the Hawks as he totaled three hits on the day, which included a triple and the game-winning walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Harrison Taubert (Casper Wyo.) and Taylor Gill (Orem, Utah) blasted homers in Game 2 for the Hawks as they both accounted for a combined five of the eight runs scored. Zielinski backed up his performance in Game 1 by adding a 2-for-4 effort in the nightcap, and doubles from Connor Jeffers (Aubrey, Texas), Samuel Manwarren (Overland Park, Kan.) and Parker Dorrance (Arvada, Colo.) were enough for the Hawks to down the Panthers by a final score of 8-6.

UP NEXT
The Hawks will again play host to another conference opponent this weekend as Marshalltown Community College will head to town. The first games of a three-game set are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk.
