NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team rolled into Chanute, KS on a six-game winning streak, and by the time the finished their three-game set with Neosho County Community College they had extended that streak to nine-in-a-row.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team rolled into Chanute, Kan., on a six-game winning streak, and by the time the finished their three-game set with Neosho County Community College they had extended that streak to nine-in-a-row.
Game 1 on Sunday saw the Hawks (9-1) fall behind 1-0 after the first inning, but three runs in the second inning and three more runs in the third inning gave the Hawks a commanding lead over the Panthers. Máximo De León (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Cooper Whitt (Knoxville, Tenn.) both launched their first homers of the season as the Hawks won Game 1 by a final of 11-6.
In Game 2 on Monday Chris Mazzini (Parker, Colo.) pitched the first no-hitter in Northeast Baseball program history, tossing seven innings, while allowing one earned run and striking out eight batters. Whitt launched his second homer in as many days as the Hawks prevailed 4-1 in seven innings.
The series finale saw more of the same as the Hawks were victorious yet again, topping the Panthers 13-3 in seven innings Monday afternoon. The Hawks were able to push four runs across the plate in the first inning and totaled 18 hits in the game. Houston Fogelstrom (Omaha, Neb.) smashed his first two home runs of the season in the matchup as the Hawks completed a sweep of their second straight opponent.
