No. 5 Kirkwood tops No. 4 Northeast in ICCAC Tournament

CLINTON, Iowa – A 3-1 lead wasn't enough for the Northeast Community College baseball team (27-18, 16-12 ICCAC) on Thursday in Clinton, Iowa.
No. 5-ranked Kirkwood Community College scored three runs in the top of the fifth to drop the fourth ranked Hawks, 5-3 in the first round of the ICCAC Tournament.
Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) led the Hawks at the plate, going 2-for-4, with a run and an RBI.
Cam Taylor (Bellevue, Neb.) suffered the loss on the mound, tossing four and one-third innings, allowing four earned runs off seven hits, while striking out four batters and walking one.
Northeast will play the loser of Southeastern Community College and the loser of the match-up between Iowa Central Community College and Ellsworth Community College at Noon Saturday at Ashford Field in Clinton.
