Northeast baseball splits against Kirkwood on Monday
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team grabbed another ICCAC road victory on Monday 4-2, before falling in the final game of the doubleheader 9-1 to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team grabbed another ICCAC road victory on Monday 4-2, before falling in the final game of the doubleheader 9-1 to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Hawks (26-14, 15-9 ICCAC) received another dominant pitching performance. Southpaw Andrew Shaw (Dillon, Colo.) tossed a complete game three-hitter, allowing only two earned runs, while striking out 10 batters and walking three. Shaw is now 6-2 on the season for the Hawks.
Christian Dumont (Bellevue, Neb.) went 2-for-4 at the plate, with two runs, a double and an RBI.
Kirkwood scurried to a 5-1 lead after three innings in the second game and held Northeast off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Cale Hlavac (Omaha, Neb.) had a double and Jackson Tingwald (Ralston, Neb.) added a home run.
Hunter Kelchner (Grand Junction, Colo.) took the loss, tossing three innings, allowing four earned runs off three hits, while striking out one and walking four.
The Hawks return to home to face Des Moines Area Community College in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
